FAQ & NOTES
How does judging work?
We value beautiful art and beautiful perspectives. Your artwork will be reviewed by a panel consisting of professional artists and biodiversity scientists. We’re looking for creative, beautiful, and interesting artworks, and we welcome all perspectives and interpretations of nature. Our judges focus not only on artistic ability, but also make sure that unique perspectives and spirited depictions of biodiversity are included among the winners.
What about animals and plants found in the zoos and aquaria?
We are aware that zoos and aquaria are likely found within the boundaries of your country. However, for this competition we’re going to ask that you leave the penguins, giraffes, and red pandas out of your artworks if they are not found in your country. Focus instead on the biodiversity that is local to your country.
Can I enter more than once?
Yes, please! You can enter as many artworks as you like. Feel free to experiment with different artistic styles, or showcasing different biodiversity.
What are the prizes?
All winning artworks will be turned into postcards (so your local biodiversity can be sent around the world!). Other prizes will be announced in the coming weeks.
Can I use AI to create my artwork?
No – we do not allow the submission of AI-generated artworks.
A note – Our art supply ‘library’
We have a small number of art supply ‘kits’ that can be borrowed (these include watercolours, pastels, markers, and colouring pencils – you will need to provide your own paper). We do request that as these are limited in number, you be mindful that someone else may be waiting to use it, and so will ask that you limit the time it stays in your house. The Art Supplies Library is a new initiative, and so this option is only open to some locations. Please email us for more information: wildpostcardproject@gmail.com
